i have FINALLY got round to ordering a towing eye to move my project mini to the lockup but i have lost they keys *laughing*
i have managed to open the door using the key for my girlfriends mini (a bit worrying, as it was as though the key was meant for that lock *indifferent* )
i need to break the steering lock now though and i am not sure how to do it.
its a 1975 mk3 so the ign barell is on top of the steering column and it only has the one stalk for indicators and full beam (if that makes any difference)
all help appreciaed, i need to get it moved its just sitting there and its doing my head in not being able to work on it :(
cheers
DAN :)

Remove the cover then get a hacksaw to the gap between the two halfs and cut the bolts.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

or drill a hole and use a screw extractor..... or drill a hole and hammer in a torx bit..... that works too......

bit of a dodgy thread really this.....

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

talking about removing the cover, I've had a really hard time getting the cover off my steering column. I've got momst of it loose, but there is something at the very bottom thats holding the top of the two halves together and I can't seem to get it undone... any help? I'd rather not break it....

dan just make sure the brakes are up to scratch if you are towing it on its wheels, and it has been sat for some time.

What you going to brace the solid bar against? Think all you will achieve is making a mess of your front panel!
It is just not worth the car coming adrift from whatever is towing it, and becoming a rollercoaster ride that you can't stop *surprised* *surprised* *surprised*

Either that, or just make the front brakes work so you can tow it?

Or one of those A-frame towing things that clamp onto both of the bottom arms might work?
