Hi All,

Pleased it's Friday! Another weekend on the mini project ahead!
So I'm nearly ready for an Mot next month however last time it was Mot'd the engine was a 998. The turbo block is missing an engine number.
What should I do?

Cheers boys.

The engnine number is not checked on the MOT so don't worry.

You could put the old number on, or just make one up and stamp it in. Then you'll need to change it on the V5C

What about the log book though? Shall I just slap the 998 one on? I'll have to get the engine changed on there any way. Out of interest who do u guys use for insurance?

I have no engine number on my car. I couldn't give a stuff what the log book says in that respect. If it came to it I'd stamp on my own number and put that on the log book. Then just use the same number ever after.

I'm currently with Adrian Flux.

As long as the insurance company knows then thats the important thing.

That said I did declare my engine change from 998 to 1275. I got my local garage to write on headed paper that they could confirm the engine was correct. If the dvla wanted to get silly then I wasn't going to bother. Seems your better off operating outside the law then within in this country now a days.
