Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Chaps, due to me having not wired a dizzy onto a mini for simply an age im having a bit of a spazzy moment.

Ive bought a Powerspark Electronic Ingition, with the points replacement thingy. I also have a Gold Coil,

Where do the wires go, I think this car must have had a ballast coil whatsit.

Am I Right in the thinking, the switched Ignition Live goes to + on the coil
the Positive (Red Wire) on the dizzy goes to + on the Coil
and the Black Wire from the dizzy goes to the - on the Coil

and thats it?

Am i right?

Yes. if its ballast you will only get 9v at the coil. there will be a white/yellow wire from the starter which gives 12v on cranking

So do I need to wire in a new wire that gets 12v?

Or can I use the white/yellow wire?

You may need to get rid of the ballast wire with the gold coil as they are 12v not 9v.

You will probably need a GCL143 if you are keeping the ballast wire.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

No makes for easier starting.

The ballast coils are 9v but when cranking they get 12v so give a fatter spark.

Suppressed plugs/leads stop radio interference.

Stick 12v to the + on the coil as a work around to get it going
