well i smashed my diff up as some off you may know and its broken some teeth of my final drive gear so im trying to source a new one i believe there diffrent on turbos to other minis and metros so is there a final drive gear that would suit a turbo from another mini or metro as i cant find anyone that wants to sell a turbo one*frown*

there the same gears so to speak its the
ratios that are diffrent
the metro turbo ratio is 3.2:1 which is a little higher geard than the others N/A units

and most other metro final drives are 3.4:1 which are a touch lower geared

maybe try minispares they are not too! expensive

hope this places you in the ball park. then you can go hunting in the scrappers

its a little unclear and the scribblins on the text
please ignore these

if its for the road i think its too low

your better sticking with the original ratio of 3.2:1

or if you are running more boost etc better going to a higher ratio ?

just my oppinion

if you cant gea t 3.2 diff get the next best thing from the scrappers 3.4 from a car applicable on the above text

Yes Ben is right, a 3.6 you will find too high for a road car e.g. revving too much at cruising speed. A 3.4 will give you better acceleration but slightly less top speed than standard, a 3.105 will give slightly higher top speed but slightly slower acceleration.
The 3.4 is the most common to find in the scrappers, but the 3.105 are not that scare. I would guess plenty of second hand Mini specialists will be able to sell you either set (crown wheel and pinion) for a reasonable price.

As a final comment, there is no "best" ratio, it all comes down to what you want from the car and what you will use it for. I have gone for a long (2.95) ratio for my car, as I want it to be able to cruise comfortably. However if dashing round lanes is what you want, a higher ratio will suit you better. "COMPROMISE" is the key word here!

spot on tom

only other thing i would say is a 2.9:1 diff is excellent in a turbo motor for road application

this ratio compliments higher modifications & boost figures!

for me a standard metty turbo 3.2:1 ratio even on 13 inch rims is still a little too under geared for road applications in my book*wink*

especially! if you have modded etc & wind the boost up*smiley*

2.9:1 is my next option, its the way iam going to go *wink*

only my oppinion though!
