Fellas, my fuel gauge keeps spiking when my engines running??

Im running an old style binacle central clock. Could this be an issue with the voltage stabiliser?

could be,

the stabalizers (or at least the earlier ones) pulsed 10v or 10-12 or somthing and the gauge averaged it out as it was damped.... early early ones didnt even have a reg.

I pulled my reg apart and put a 10v regulator inside it then adjusted the gauge to suit.

Right ive noticed the Fuel Gauge only does anything while the engine is running? It doesnt spike it just bounces around all over the place, I have a spare gauge with a voltage stabilizer attached so ill try that first. If it stays the same ill get hold of a sender unit this weekend.

Ill report back with my findings
