Not had much to do with smaller players but the Creative player Ihave (60Gig Zen nomad jukebox) is really simple to use, my girlfriend has an Archos player and the software for it is a complete pain in the arse. I chose the creative for two reasons,

1) the model i have has the ability to slow down or speed up music without changing the pitch (Really handy as I play guitar).

2) the battery life was good.

I retrospect I think Imade the right choice, But i was after a big hard drive type unit.

ebay is worth a look I got one for my mum off there, there's plenty of cheap knockoff's a lot of which they sell for 99p and make the money on packaging, but they are a bit on the cheap end of the market, but do the job.

I like the look of the second one on your links.

Also when I bought mine I got it from microdirect, good service and the cheapest i could find.

The boring bloke who runs this place.

i've got a samsung solid state 1gb mp3 player. it sucks. it turns itself off if you put it above a certain volume, and only lasts about 4 hours before you have to replace the battery. next one i get will be an i-pod style one perhaps a creative.
