Just started rebuilt turbo engine and let it heat up to normal temp. It is quite smokey the only thing that was not rebuilt was the turbo. Is this likely to be the culprit. Engine was out of a Metro and was not started prior to rebuild.

when you say rebuild has it been re-bored and crank ground, if so then it does sound like it could be the turbo.. Alan

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

What the spec of the engine pistons etc also has the guides been done on the head, we really. Need more information, to give you a decent diagnosis to your problem.

Engine on plus 20thou 18 cc forged pistons. Crank ground new shells. Minisport cam. Smoke is dark blue in colour. Head standard with slightly enlarged inlet valves.
Thanks for replies

Has benross says have you had the valve guides and oil seals done these are common causes of oil burning in a turbo engine..

if the guide seals are years old or the guides are worn it could well be them...........

but my monies on the turbo seals are goosed, especially if its some 20 odd years old and unknown ?

I would look on ebay for a reconditioned unit and be careful of the places that you find, look at there feed back ect.. or maybe some one on TM may be able to recommend some place they have used, that would be better, sorry I cant help with that.. Alan

And about the guide seals if they are the standard ones that are in the gasket sets, they don't seem to be any good for the turbo engines..
