Hi Guys,

I'm getting quite a regular hey with all my problems!

So it's the clutch this time. It's a new clutch plate, running with a lightened flywheel and orange pressure plate. Ive adjusted it as the book says but my drive on a slope and to get out the garage the clutch is slipping. I've wound the stop bolt in a half a turn then I can't get it in gear so I'm between not getting it in gear and it slipping!
I've ran out of ideas, I'm wondering if the clutch arm is not being moved enough by the slave cylinder or master cylinder. These are both new however so can't see these being these.

Any ideas chaps?

Have you had the flywheel lugs machined?
My old orange clutch would hold 8-10psi boost before slipping

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Hi Brett,

How do mean? I was not aware that they needed machining. Which bits require work?
It was one I bought from Avonbar a few years back but the project got put on the back burner until now.
It moves back and forth the legnth of the garage but guess that's not really load.

How many drive straps have you fitted to the flywheel?

Is it a case of more drive straps, the more you skim off the lugs?

"was" being the important word in that sentence!

essentially as said you need a certain amount of preload, and as soon as you start adding straps etc this starts getting degraded.

with the spring in a mini clutch (preverto) the rate increases as it is compressed peaks when the spring is flat then drops off, you need to build the flywheel assy with all the parts that are going to be used and see where the spring sits then shorten the lugs on the back plate to get the spring flat.

Hi chaps,
Right it appears it's not the clutch slipping however I am interested in the messages above.
It appears the noise I am heating is one of the inner cv joints spinning. So I need to delve deeper into what's going on down there.

you could have assembled one of the cages inside out, i did it a few years back and totally smashed a pot joint trying to pull onto a trailer

As brett says machine the lugs down,

To check this asseble the clutch off the car and you can then look to see if the spring is near flat once clamped

Hi guys,

Brett u were bang on. Like an idiot I'd fitted the bearing cages on both the drive shafts on the wrong way round!
Another school boy error!
