Hi ive been checking for the cheapest price on Lowered Gaz coil Overs. The cheapest I have found is Huddersfield Spares.

front coil over kit inc springs and brackets ?225.
rear coil over kit inc springs ?165 .

Anyone know where I can pick some up cheaper, Thanks.

Why would you fit one up cheaper?? Everyone says they're useless....

Because some places sell the same products at cheaper prices!

What's the point in paying more for the same this you can buy £50 cheaper around the corner?

What do you mean by useless coilovers or just Huddersfield mini spares?

the best handling is probably down to how well you set the car up rather than wether you have coilovers or not.

I've used Spax and Konis in the past. Both achieve the same end result, in honesty all the "quality" uprated shockers on the market achieve much the same end result.
This car I have put Gaz on, I have yet to drive it though.

i have Konis on my daily driver and to be honest cant fault them, for the price ride quality and handling i think there the best for fast road driving

had spax in the past and felt the ride quality poor and harsh the rears were set on softest setting and were still harsh ive now put them on the turbo as that has 13's this may help as they are as new

had gaz coilovers on my crx and was not impressed tbh car felt unstable in the wet, but loads of mini owners swear by them

i will try avo's next not many people seem to use them but the ones that have have said good stuff so far

sky's the limit woth shocks. I have tried to build my suspesnion miglia spec. The Avo shocks on the front of my car retail for around £150 each, even at this price, they are not going to be good as the shocks the top miglia runners use. I must have spent around 2k on my suspension, and it still has a long way to go.

listen to everyone, don't go down the coil over route.

I mainly want to lower my mini. I want a comfortably ride but it does matter much, the bumps are fun! For lowering and handling what would be the best shocks you guys would suggest??? Cheers

I wouldn't fit coil over's on a road car, I had the spax kit and hated it.

Get your self a set of Hi-Lo's and spend money on a new set of rubber (genuine) cones and knuckle joints.

A decent set of up rated shocks will sort you out for less dollars than an adjustable set, but may be lacking in Bling factor. *wink*

Replacing all the fooked rubber bushes, subframe mountings etc will transform the way your car drives.

I've gone for the minispares competion cones, the migia guys swear by them, but I have to also back Gibbo up, a new std set must be soooo much better than the fucked 20 year old set most mini have

What is the suspension set up that the miglias use then? I wouldnt really know where to look apart from try and find some pictures taken at the race meets.....So you guys really dont think much to the GAZ/Spax coilover kits?
What do you recomend is a pretty decent set up then? competition cones and AVO shocks like in the above pic?

I bought the rear coilovers for my car and never got around to getting the front....now im tempted to get them on ebay!

replys would be very helpful *wink*

well i generally thought coilovers are better....i use clio mk1 and corsa (hides) forums and they have a spring and shocker setup and they all swear by coilovers.......
yet then again the mini is a different car......

im all confused

it's horses for courses really. To be honest, although miglia handle really well, (some say the best ever) it may be worth looking at the suspension on the mighty mini extreame series, as there rules are not as strict. There are lots of things which miglias are not allowed.

eg, remote shocks.
must use original mounting points
no ally or titanium parts.
standard subframes ect
no coil overs

I think i'm correct in thinking that mighty mini extreame cars have non of the above restrictions. Having said that, I think 99% of the mighty mini extreme cars use suspesnion the same as miglia. Mark haswell (minimark) has an ex front running extreme mini, he should be able to give me info than me.

Basicly the setup on a miglia, from what I have understood (without giving away too many secrects *wink* )

competion cones (the £50 each minispares ones, not the yellow ones)
genuine hilos (that can be adjusted with t bar, and not spanner
Rose jointed on car adjustable tie bars
Rose jointed on car adjustable bottom arms
adjustable rear camber / caster
good shocks, (usually between £300 - £2000 a pair)
front and rear anti roll bars.

But I think the main reason they handle so well is the time the put into the suspension setup. Before a weekend of racing, they will spend almost a whole day on a setting up the suspension, then around 30 mins before each time they go out on the track.

hey....that helps yeah...i can appreciate the time taken to set the cars up..after all they are race cars, i have a 250cc GP bike and i know alot goes into getting the suspension right, but i mean on the road....or even on the track are coil overs going to be a plus or not....they will take abit to set up but are they happy in a mini shell?
