Alrite chaps. So basically a mate of mine is going to be doing some welding for me in a couple of weeks and says he's doing me a deal on it. So I just wanted to see from all you welders out there if this is a good price as I have no idea.
i got nothing but time.. |

Well tbh I think it's a bit steep but, I know he's a good welder and iv seen stuff he's done and it's top notch. I respect the fact that if you want a good job you have to pay good money. Any of you boys fancy some extra cash!? Ha. So in some of your opinions what should I be looking at price wise? i got nothing but time.. |

this wil all come down to the quality of the work being undertaken. I'm getting the full length floor with sills done on the estate at the moment. The agreed rate is £100 a day to include consumables.

My local garage is about £50 an hour for basic welding of stuff, not including panels, I'm not sure how that welding would take but I cant see it being much more than 10 hours though. Which makes his rates similar to my local garage - so it's not too bad, but I wouldn't exactly call it 'mates rates' |

I reckon that lot would take me 4 or 5 days, but a pro would do it in a couple of days. Its probably not too bad really On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

i think as we all know once you start cutting away the crap it can take a while to find good metal so it all depends what problems he runs into, as said above it sounds about right compared to local fabrication prices Edited by wng691s clubby on 8th Mar, 2013. Done now needs redoing lol |

There's a lot of fiddly welding there very time consuming, dose not know what he's going to find underneath, and if he makes a good job of it, like some one in above post says, then it sounds ok to me.. Main Build

sounds cheap to me, that's a good solid weeks work if it all goes well, which it usually doesn't with minis! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

I'm not sure i would bother doing that for £500.. So it sounds like a decent deal to me. |

Hard to judge how long it would take- but I don't think it sounds cheap to me- for mates rates... www.topcatcustom.co.uk |

personally i dont care if thats a good deal or not. he's a friend and while i would offer to pay him i'd prob not offer him half of that and i'd offer to help him out in return with other stuff and helping him work on my car so you can pick up some tips yourself.

ok so it seems that if its actual mates rates then it should be a lot cheaper, otherwise is generally the norm. im dropping it over to him next week anyway so its done, i just need to get cracking.. my mini will be finished without fail this year.. ill be damned if i see it in the garage for another year with no engine. cheers guys for all the advice/info. much appreciated

For a decent job i'd take that for £500 to be bonest. If you can't do it yourself, and knowing you'll have what you want done - doesn't seem bad in my opinion. On 2nd Mar, 2008 joeybaby83 said:
