Hello

I have been gathering parts and reading a lot of information over the last couple of years and now I have finally got all my turbo bits on the car.
I'm using a 998 engine with a 12g295 head and a t2 turbo.

I have got it started and it sounds like its running well but I need to know what I should setup initially so that I can safely get it down to the rolling road to get it tuned correctly.

Currently I have the megajolt at 23 deg across the board, I have a AEM wideband aswell (am I right in thinking that I need it to stay below 14.7)

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers
Paul

23 deg is very conservative, bump it up to at least 30 deg at cruise.

at cruise aim for 15-16 afr,

for low boost up to about 5 psi 13-14 and be at 12.5 by 8 psi,

however theres probably not too much you can do about mixture till you get to the rollers

So should I put 30deg across the whole board?

Also should I buy a spare needle to take with me to the RR, as I'm unsure what has been done with the standard item in the carb now. If yes, which one should I get?

Thanks
Paul

you want 15 deg at tick over ( LH columns upto 1000-1500)

leave 100kpa up as 23

the block 3000-4000 up to 70kpa make 30 deg then taper it in to th above two.

Thanks Joe. Ill have a go at that on Tuesday afternoon.

Is there anything I can do to the carb myself to start tuning it without pulling the needle out?

Cheers
Paul

only set the idle mixture, and if its going really lean at cruise block the part throttle lean of pipe if its there.

for initial running in you'll be at low boost so you just want to watch the afr gauge to check its not too rich or too lean, just see what its like

spare needle wise, probably best off with a std metro turbo one (BDL IIRC)
