I have just been given a T3 turbo from a 1987 MG Metro Turbo that had only covered 43,000 miles.

Is there anything I can check on the unit (while off the car) to tell whether it's any good without running it first??

Cheers
Rich

play in the inlet shaft should be very little but saying that best way is to bolt it on and try it ..

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

Yep have checked that, impellor spins freely and there is absolutely no move in shaft at all!
