I would say that the fact you will never have to worry about rust far outweighs any weight saving advantages!

Oh definately dude!

That's why I started building it in the first place.

Sorted out the rear lights, got the rear screen in and wired/fitted out the front end. Just need to tidy up the wiring a bit.

Looking better by the day.

BHP sells engines, but Torque wins races!

Are you going to be using a fuel gauge with the tank or just the visual tube on thank?

They're actually innocenti rear lamps. I've just used the covers and put a couple of bulb holders in the shell. Was a good weight saving.

I'm not sure on total weight as I haven't put it all together. The cage isn't light that's for sure! Around 550kg I would imagine.

Yea it's a concept racing tank, I bought it from someone on here.

No just the level on the tank.

It's foam filled so not to sure if a sender would work with the foam in. Although you could take it out.

I've not run out of fuel in over 2 years with just the visible tube.

You could fit a float type sender? Bit like a brake fluid warning light setup that comes on when the fuel is low.

I should be ok as it's an old one, most are on age related. A new one would need the dreaded test.

Exactly minimole, won't be hard to work out the miles I get per tank and just keep an eye.

Does that move inside its own housing? As the foam would restrict a normal mini style one.

Yeah they do have their own tube type thing, I know I've read somewhere before about someone having one, I'll see if I can find one.

Hmm, sorry to spam your thread Jonny, just want a fuel cell but I'm really anal and want to be able to rig it to my standard fuel gauge, but when I spoke to concept racing they weren't too clear about doing so

Get a tube sender and one of those fuel tank sender adapters from https://www.spiyda.com/magento/index.php/fu...wizard-mk2.html

Those look good carzilla, thanks for that. Think I'll just leave it as is for now and buy one when I get round to building the turbo engine.

No worries Oli, that's what forums are for, questions and sharing knowledge!

I'm pretty sure you can get most senders to work you just need to put the right resistor in to get it to match up with the mini gauge.

No but I have bits of proof etc that should be fine to keep it on the same plate.

Got some paint and a new mask.

Looks quite grey in the picture but its a variation of Smoke Grey and is quite blue.

I did not use the BMC colour code of BU.15 i used a british standard colour code of BS381 692. I used this as basically it was a lot cheaper!

BU.15 from my local paint shop was about £250 for 5L whereas i got this for £60 from... http://auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/index.php...d&productId=241

It is obviously cheaper for a reason although It seems to have gone on nicely though with only a few runs. Which are my fault as it was my first go at putting proper colour on.

Cheers for all the positive comments!

Got the arches fitted and the rear quarter windows in.
