First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

hello,

i (stupidily) bought one of those expensive blue anodised fuel filters a few months back

its supposed to go after the pump

can i get away with putting it before the pump? or is there no advantage to this?

i just thought it will keep my fuel pump living longer.
The filter has a paper element in it

thanks

I thought about doing this as well, ran the pump up with a filter before it, even with an open pipe off it, it sounded like it was struggling a bit......

I think a pump pre-filter would be nice to have, but have not managed to find anything that I think will flow enough not to make the pump struggle.

Also when you think about it, modern stuff with in-tank pumps does not have a pre-filter and lasts well. And the metro in its original setup did not run a pre-filter either.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

ahh but it did, just in tank thats all! most do run some sort of pre filter to keep the big lumps out, doesnt need to go that fine but a small bit of muck WILL seize your pump solid, mine was only weeks old! *frown*

you need to run a pre filter for sure. ive knackered a few pumps not doing.

think its a ford one that you can use before the pump, TD knows which one!

Staffordshire or Northamptonshire

You want to run a gauze prefilter. I'd go for around a 15 thou mesh size.
