When my car initially starts a huge cloud of smoke comes out the tailpipe. I have had it tuned and it when the carb was set to a normal idle around 700-800 there would be smoke still coming out the tail. If I bump up the idle speed to around 1100 there is no smoke. Also when I get on it in 1st a huge cloud comes out. I have a 1380 turbo w/ just over 2,000 miles. The motor was fully assembled at Avonbar. Any idea what would cause this. It wouldn't bother me too much if it wasn't a daily driver for me. Any input is much appreciated.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

was the turbo reconned? the head?

sounds turbo or valve stem related, more likely turbo to be honest

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the engine is new so it could be a case of simpley bedding the motor in

but i doubt it...

the second cause could be the turbo but .... did you know the history of this????

if the turbo checks out ok

my bet is a overly rich IDLE mixture

If it puffs on startup it's GUARANTEED the valve guides/valves...

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
