Hi guys

Just wondering what people's thoughts of the SC billets Rods. I'm after a decent set of S Conrods for a 1430 long stroke turbo motor. My concerns is they are machined from billet not forged. I've been reading loads of horror stories about nice looking, but low quality Chinese con rods, fitted with fake ARP's destroying engines.

I have no reason to suspect any problems with the SC Rods, just wanted to see what other people thought. I'm a big Specialist components fan and never had any problems with there gear inc 5 port wet manifold system and 7 port billet head kit.

Plan was to get some AEG521's worked with ARP's, but these do look nice and have bushed small ends. At £400, there no more expensive that buying used rods and having them worked, shot peened and new ARP's

Well the sc ones are lighter then worked standard rods, and forged or not there don't appear to have
been any instances of failure.

I'm toying with the idea of going for the 6 inch rod, and short height pistons in my next engine, as it won't be more expensive to change configuration but should be a better arrangement.

no doubt someone will be along to tell you all sorts of nasty things about them, but i' perfectly happy with mine,

Yes you can make an A+ rod lighter,
Yes an A+ rod is more than up to the job,
but as you say by the time you have got a set of A+ rods worked and bought the bolts and possibly come across an iffy rod that has the bolt holes too close to the big end bearing there is not much in it price wise.

one plus is the SC rod will miss the cam should you wish to use it in an 8 port, or have a cam belt go.....*tired*

OH yes!

check my build thread below somewhere around page 18-20 theres some pics,

the cam will swipe a bit out of each rod/bolt. I think the mildest std cams miss, but anything high lift will hit.
