Im looking at getting an estate in the near future, ive had an A4 s line in the past, and it was great so was going to opt for that however does anyone have any experience of the Skoda Octavia Estate 2.0 TDI vRS ?

or anything else to consider (around 16k ish)? still want something sporty but with enough space for tones of family stuff..

cheers Mark.

The rear leg room in the a4 is terrible. my 7 year old nice can't sit behind me. Also bear in mind you will need isofix brackets for both sides as the passenger side rear belt is shorter than the drivers side. I can't fit comfortably with a rear facing car seat behind me. can get you pics of a seat fitted if you like.

The seat belt thing now worries me.. as i have already bought both child seats!

Very impressed with my 2012 mondeo estate Mark, build is superb and it handles like a hot hatch. Acres of room all round. You are welcome to have a look if you want mate.

Get isofix bases for them.

By default what would be the passenger side of the car in the country the car is designed/built in gets a longer belt. So on an a4 that's behind the driver. The passenger side doesn't go round Leos seat...

I looked at a 3 year old a4 estate recently, it had isofix brackets built into the rear seats. Had to buy one for my car. They just bolt in behind the seat back.

16k gets you an awful lot of car! I bought a BMW 535d touring recently, it is awesome.

Edit> for less than half of 16k! I cannot afford/justify a £16k car!!

The rear leg room in the new A4 is far better than the older model.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

My folks have a 60 plate VRS. Awesome car. Better than my old s-line a4 (i had a 57 plate 170 s-line SE).

So much smoother and far cheaper to own/run.

Cheers Ian, looks like its worth a test drive then, everything I have read points to it being a great car that will be ideal for what I need.

I had an octavia Scout as a hire car for a week. Did everything well, had a few anoying points, but more personal irritations than anything.

Best thing was, when stoped it had a fixed rev limiter around 1.5 or 2k (can't remember). So for the whole week I was nailing the throttle at traffic lights then just dumping the clutch, great fun!

My old legacy had a similar feature, but that was set at 5k. And a 3 litre revving on the limiter at 5k makes you look like a twat. The Skoda was barely at tickover.
