Chaps,

Just a quick one, gonna be starting some body work soon & attempting welding for the 1st time. Where do you guys get your sheet metal from? What gauge do you use?

Seen a couple of places but the prices were quite different so unsure what I can expect to pay?

Cheers!!

Sheffield South Yorkshire GB.

My self and my son have found if you live near a main stockist, you tend to get a better price than buying small pieces from off eBay and the like.. Alan

when I'm not using scrap offcuts, I generally use 18 gauge; its a bit heavier than 20 which could also be used although I think it is a bit thin.

as for suppliers and price, I've not bought any for a while but when I do, it is generally from one of the metal wholesale suppliers. I'm currently using Metal Supermarket - not necessarily the cheapest but it is convenient for me and they will cut to size.

The best thing is to find a local supplier. I don't know of anybody on here that lives near your location so doubt that you will get much advice.

Thanks for the replies guys... I actually found a local place this morning hidden away so probably give them a shout.
