i have been through the search section and still undecided *Confused*

is it better to wrap the exhaust or paint it with VHT exhast paint, this is on a N/A motor to which i have just bought a new maniflow manifold (not stainless).

the last exhaust was wrapped but unsure if to do it again *blush*

my understanding is that they do 2 very differing things; the paint simply withstands high temps whereas the wrap keeps the heat in the exhaust allowing it to dissipate further down the system away from the engine/ under bonnet area

I personally would do both.

Like Rob said they do two different things.
The paint is more cosmetic, but will help keep them from rusting and then the wrap over the top will insulate them keeping the engine bay and intake cooler.

That's my 2 cents *smiley*

VHT paint, in my limited experience, is useless. Even when applied to shot blasted components it always flakes off in the end. Either wrap or ceramic coat it, the latter of two being rather expensive

Agreed on the VHT! It smokes away! lol

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Wrap does two things. Keeps the heat in and in my case covers up the shit looking welding, bonus....

I did my n/a one over winter. Wrapped it then did it with DEI coating stuff. Seems to have worked well, well once it stopped smoking!

Used these so it didnt cost a fortune, it did a fairly tidy job:

Depending on how you intend on using the car I have heard wrap contributing to hear gasket failure.

I got my down pipe chrome plated, six years and it is still mint.

I got my maniflow nickel plated 2 years ago and still looks smart, with a little jap style blueing on the bends.

How about some Zircotec ceramic coating?
