I have just been on TMF forum and seen a guy selling a plenum made for a set of twin Su's.

I am just wondering would this work for a turbo or would be a nightmare to set-up?

I am not looking to buy, just curious

Cheers

Bobby

i believe the problem would be that the turbo hif44 is sealed unit unlike the su's

Done now needs redoing lol

Yes, it could be made to work (not talking about the specific plenum as I haven't seen it.

Yes, it would be more difficult to setup than a single HIF.

Only really worth pursuing if you want a period look. There is no performance advantage.

This is not really a problem.

No restrictor, so it would not work in a turbo setup.

oh ok, just the guy advertised as a turbo/supercharged set up. But would be quite interesting to see if it was ever done.
Although as Will said there is no benefits to it, so probably not worth it

That and like andy said it has no restricter so youd have to mod it after youve paid out for it.

Didn't have a restrictor in the Rwd mini with the rocker cover plenum , although maybe it's only needed the su

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

It's there to keep the presure in the plendinidum higher than inside the car so that the fuel pressure stays right. Probably not needed for efi.

I have seen a twin hiff44 setup on a mastro that was running arround 250bhp iirc. Look for snakeii on youtube and look at my video from combe the mastro that spins on the first lap.

I can't see the pictures, but if it's for an SU not an HIF, a restrictor will be of no use. Because on the SU there is no feed to the float bowl from the carb mouth area.

You'd need to find a separate way to feed a higher pressure to the float bowl. A pitot tube for example.

A 'HIF' is a model of carb by SU, SU is the Manufacturer. *tongue* *wink*

The earlier carbs used on Minis were 'HS' while the later carbs were 'HIF', both are SU's *happy*

What is a carb anyway? *hehe!*
