I'm mainly concerned about swirl in the runners caused by the tangential entry. |

All 4sync gearboxes could be treated the same. If it's from a Mini 998, Metro or turbo doesn't matter at all really.

Early van and pickups were a 3.76:1 diff ratio from memory (to give lower gearing for carrying weight)

The 998's changed to taller gearing in approx 1982, with the introduction of the A+ engine. The 10" wheeled cars (1982-84) used the 2.95:1 ratio, the 12" wheeled cars (1984-) used 3.105:1. This was obviously done to compensate for the slightly higher rolling radius of the 12" wheels. The carb and possibly SPi Coopers also used this 3.105:1 ratio as well I believe, although I am not 100% sure on what the SPi's ran. The MPi's as is commonly known had the 2.76:1 ratio. 3.76:1 on 10" wheels means a top speed of about 85mph, but get there pretty damn quickly!
