Hi there I am converting a hif 44 carb to turbo , I have purchased a rebuild kit for the turbo carb from burlen and replaced all necessary parts and cleaned it up , I am having an engine built by benross at the moment and I know when completed my existing needle in the carb will be ground down a lot smaller so I won't need a turbo needle but just wondered if the needle spring is different on a turbo carb compared to my original hif 44 ? Also I have read somewhere on the forum that the carb can be drilled to take the choke cable instead of using a bracket I just wondered if anyone had any pictures of this ? Can anyone help thankyou *happy*

Yes the turbo spring is stronger imo for more than 7/8 psi boost you should be looking for a 12ounce spring (minispares sell these)

And i can get pics when i get home as i too have drilled the lug for the choke cable

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

right this is the best i can do without digging my mini out :(

the hole i have pointed to you want to drill all the way through the lug with a 2 mm drill bit then drill through that with a 6mm drill bit BUT only go 80% the way through, so what your left with is a good sized recess to locate the choke cable and hold it in place

something i bought but never actually fitted is the little screw adjuster off a bike brake lever shown pic 3

if your still a bit stuck let me know *happy*

right i have got 3 pics to work
1st pic you can just see the hole in my carb
2nd roughly where the choke cable goes
3rd a nice neat solution and quick adjustment
4th same as one ( and took 7 edits *angry* )

took me a while as 'Carb Spring' didn't bring any of this type of spring back.
