Because my mini project is going slower than expected, I've bought a runaround to get me to and from places. I've used my no claims bonus (2 years worth) to bring the price of the insurance down.

Now, when i come to putting the mini on the road, hopefully within the month, can i still use the same no claims bonus,
(bearing in mind that i have had to send the proof of no claims off to the insurers), to discount the policy on the mini aswell or is that not allowed?

If I'm not allowed to use it twice, do you think it will be possible to take the no claims off the policy for the runabout, or will i have to stop the policy all together?

Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems?

You can definately only use your no-claims bonus once.

Not sure about moving it either, they don't usually like doing things like that and generally will make you cancel the policy you have (at a cost forfeit) and then start new ones.

If I were you I would look into insuring your Mini on a limited mileage policy, and also not for commuting to work, as that can save you money, and then use your runabout for those purposes.

miniworld insurance is your best bet. they do limited milage classic car insurance.

without using any no claims my insurance is about £30 a month
and they'll insure you on track days! *happy*

30 quid a month, shit the bed!!

what sort of mileage is that then, and if you don't mind me asking how old are you? I'm only 23.

I think you could get away with keeping your insurance on your runaround, and the ncb on that. Get the mini insured seperately, classic insurance or something. They ask you how many other cars you use, which will count for somethind-if the mini isn't your main car then that must bring it down.

I us to use hill house hammond cost £50 extra a year for mini too...but they went bust

bennets said they would start me at 40% ncb on a second car

I have insured a car through frizzels before via the internet using my full ncb (they never asked) while having another car insured elsewhere also using full ncb

However you do it, just make absolutely 100% sure you are completely watertight and legal, the last thing you would want if god forbid you did have a nasty accident would be your insurers turning round and invalidating your policy.

I rang HIC about it. Very Helpful.

With all mods declared, fixed value, track use, etc, etc

5000 mile limit, and one accident claim, £650

Not too bad really.

Cheers for the advice people
