I have a problem.
I have used an avonbar camshaft in my engine rebuild. It is stamped AV002. It is possibly 20years old unused. I contacted Piper as I am told they made them. They have no data on it only the ABRT002. I am told I need to know the duration and the lift to get the correct distributor built.
Any help appreciated

Try contacting Ian at AVR classics. He ran avonbar back in the day.

fisrt off you dont build a dizzy to the cam, you build it to the engines requirements after it has been rolling roaded,

2nd, I wouldnt bother getting a dissy built I'd go for some form or mappable ignition.

check the lift at the exhaust lobe, for a later ph 2 your looking at about 320 thou, and for an early one about 300 thou iirc.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

i will concur with joe c exactley! but if you want to go dizzy get a red turbo distributor off of aldon with the max advance of 24 degrees ......give them a ring.

swat up on megajolt not much more expensive and the way forward,

OK thanks.
I will ring Aldon. With the engine spec.
It is an ERA and I want to keep it looking as standard as possible so mega jolt is out for the moment.

What about the CSI programmable dizzy?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Just had a look at the info on their website. It looks interesting but no mention of turbo engine.
Is anybody using one?

I emailed CIS in Holland with my engine spec and this is the reply

"I think your engine needs a special advance curve.
Normally it can be done on a dyno or rolling road session.
Also it needs a pressure sensor and we use a vacuum sensor for carburettor engines.
Sorry, we have not a standard solution for it".

What about the 123 tune or Aldon Amethyst?

Aldon Amethyst Looks to be the answer according to the info on their web site. It seems to tick all the boxes.
The thread, Aldon Amethyst mapped ignition also good reading.

looks like a good option as you want to retain the dizzy,

its not full 3d but its getting there.
