Hi,

Just had a speedo cable snap on me. It was from my old 998 engine. The cable itself must of been 10 years old. Didn't last long on the turbo. I'm guessing it's just one of those things but thought I'd pop a thread on here. There's not a special one out there that I am supposed to be using? I've got the center speedo type, also changed the worm gear and pinion to suit the set up.

Yep, me and a couple of others have all had problems with center speedo cables from minispares 'made in Britain'. Moss Europe sell a foreign made (forget where) and all replacements so far have been ok. British rubbish! *blush*

I fitted a brand new cable, checked about 10 times it was located properly in both ends, it would work perfectly when cold, when the engine started to warm up it would start to show a greatly reduced speed, eventually dropping off altogether :/

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper

One of the funniest things I saw was when I took a workmate for a spin in the Sprint one lunchtime, the speedo needle was back round at 0 and started squealing then actually fell off

I seriously doubt it!

think of all the extra weight you could have saved if you removed that stop pin!

Yes I had this, it snapped 3 times, so I went for a sorter cable and looked at how it was routed, I found there was not so clean bends in it. now its been working fine.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

There is no such thing as 'insignificant weight saving', it all adds up.
