Hope someone can help ... Mini used to eat through standard starter motors so invested in a hi torque jobbie. Since then it struggled to start and now refuses to fire!
Ran the spark test through the ecu and I have a spark but when cranking there's no spark..
Anyone got any advice or help because I'm dying to drive the mini again

Thanks :) rich

Is the battery lead shorting against anything?

I had a similar problem years back, turned out to be a knackered starter that was brand new from minispares. Can you try another from someone else?

If its not sparking when cranking is it seeing a crank signal? Does the crank signal run your fuel pump aswell?

The fuel pumps on its own switch separate from the ecu... This is the crank oscilloscope

Is your ecu getting power when cranking? if you've changed the wiring round it may not be connected to the starter wiring bit.

Vr sensor connected the wrong way round? The double missing tooth is the usual sign

The only thing that's changed is the starter motor since it used to work (but the starter was crap)

How does the coil get its power? Sounds like theres not enough juice there on cranking?

I'm with Brett on this one. Try different 12v feed to coil pack.

sounds like the coil is either underpowered or knackered Rich. Do you have a spare you can try?
