Along with your ecochip and computerfan turbo, we're talking another 50hp...

Seriously, it's one of those 'every little helps' scenario's. possibly immeasurable in power, possibly will show clear gains. You'll notice almost every production engine nowadays fits them however - there is a gain to be had.

I've spoken to KC, and he is making some that fit the standard bolt holes. He will be selling those for £10-15... Too cheap to bother myself.

Search on the Minimania board. There is some info on those trays there.

so you mean the plate would be sandwiched between the block and gearbox, would this not put of the meshing of the drop gears?

I'm sure it must mean existing bolt holes / bolts - not the case / block interface...

Yes, Dave's correct. There are some holes for the oil pickup pipe etc...

I was thinking about this, there are the holes for the oil pickup that could be used, and then maybe a support bracket down to the mainshaft retaining collar? But that only leaves the tray supported in two places, surely it would be a bit flimsy at that? I wonder where else it could pick up on?

Would it not make sence to skim the box to allow the tray to sit between it and the block ? or am i missing something.

then the transfer gears would be squeezed together...??

Surely the extra cooling the oil does along with slashing the cam with lube is not worth loosing out on??

I wont have one!

IMO..ofcourse!

For a mega-high revving NA race engine I would consider this mod.

But for our applications, I'm with Jon and Wil, I'd rather have plenty of oil splashing about.

Iwas thinking along the lines of say a 1.6mm tray and skimming 1.6mm of the box therefore if you remove 1.6mm and then replace it with a 1.6mm tray the gears see the same meshing ??

I also agree that the loss of oil getting where it's needed out ways the gain in HP.
They fit crank scrapers and windage tray to race cars that need top acceleration to cut down on the rotating mass of the crank. Think of it like this if your crank weighs 12kg on its own add a few liters of oils and it becomes just that bit harder to accelerate due to the increase in rotating mass.

Doodmeister, don't forget you'll need 2 gaskests, so you'll have to skim 1.6mm +1 gasket thickness.
