Try going into device manager and delete com port or ports and the restart computer and see if it plug and plays the com ports again, you may then have to reassign a port for mega jolt..Alan Main Build

When the lead is disconnected it shows error 'could not open port' as expected. When plugged in it shows error 'time out reading cylinder count'. I have deleated the us , re installed it, changed the com number but still no joy. Im really gutted about this, am wondering if its the megajolt unit itself? Please any more advice is appreciated, thanks again |

Iirc. You need to make sure that the auto assigned com port in the driver matches the one in the mj software. These adapters can be a little hit and miss some times. Depending on your OS it will assign a new com port if you plug it into a differed USB port. I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Google suggests two results. It's the USB adapter or the software/ firmware version

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

I have also had the wires pull out of the mj serial lead inside the 9pin rs232 connector. It would be worth opening it up to make sure it's all connected I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

As sprocket says that USB adapter is suspect if you didn't buy a good one, I took the advice on trigger wheels and bought the one they recommended, I know it's in there interest to sell there's but been that many people had trouble with communication between the MJ and computer, I thought pay the price and be safe.. right, have this sorted now. thanks to everyone who got back to me with advice. it turns out that the lead from the megajolt to the usb was faulty somehow. there is no obvious damage, changed it for another one and it now works. again thanks a lot for the input on this chaps, its really appreciated,

me too. if you know whats wrong then you know what has to be replaced. if not its very frustrating, especially as it worked fine not too long back.

If you look in the about menu of the configurator it should give the firmware version of the MJ, a simple check you have comms. |
