Hi just wondering how you guys feel about exhaust wrapping.. my heat sheild glows 1cm under my carb and wondering if I should wrap the manifold. But surely this means that the exhaust is only going to get hotter as it cant cool due to lack of air cooling... cheers..

I would check your fueling if it is glowing? Does it do this all the time or just after an extended blast? http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

You boys know your stuff.... this was after a first run after a rebuild, I had the wrong map installed on nodiz so yep the timing would have been out...

It keeps the heat in the manifold, so yes the manifold runs hotter, but the things around it should stay cooler. Some people have had issues with manifolds cracking or warping due to the heat, but I don't think it's to much of an issue with the standard Metro Turbo item, it's a pretty robust piece of kit. I've personally run the wrap for years with no issue.

Did you just wrap the manifold or downpipe as well? |

I thought about this but decided not to. Not sure whats best, i guess its swings and roundabouts. Have seen so many turbos with cracks around the wastegate hole. Also if you are keeping heat in the manifold, the turbo runs hotter, so might the combustion chambers. Alternative is that under bonnet temps soar... |

I think your also making the turbo more efficient keeping the heat in... Something to do with the energy not escaping through heat and light it's funnelled through the turbo hence why people ceramic coat manifolds and turbine side of the turbos too Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

Wrapped the manifold from the block back to the square mount to the turbo, and then around the waste gate.. pretty straight forward... cost me £10 from ebay with 10 wire ties... got the black stuff, it looks good and you wont belive the temperature difference.. the reason I done it was because my heat sheild was naff, |

Do you apply it wet? Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

No straight out of the pack, be a bit frugal with it wrap it nice and tight, it think it looks smart, you can almost keep your hand on the manifold after you've run the engine , its that good and its better than looking at a rusty old manifold.. |

It's actually better to wrap it damp, it wraps tighter too. www.apsbikes.co.uk
