That rule sounds about right. the upside down skip made 174 bananas on 17psi. Happily took 25+ psi, but I doubt that made much more than 210-220.

nothing very hyper ,small intercooler and soft cam ,the engine was designed in 1998 for good economy and a very wide power band .and the cam and head are just the same , just an ic added and 2m bigger ex valves .

i was suprised at its power really.... i think its only nic and matt and i that run over 112mph in the 1/4 ,
it would be interesting to see mine with a much bigger turbo and intercooler .the gt17 tops out around 250 bhp to 265 bhp .

i have the bits and pieces and cam design to create a far more powerfull motor , but various personal stuff has hindered that ,not to mention another all absorbing project taking off *smiley*.

How we didn't blow the vans engine to smithereens is beyond me! We pretty much just kept upping the boost till it wouldn't go any higher. However it took all we threw at it and there wasn't a mark on the pistons when we took it apart! Gearbox seemed to be the limiting factor.

Will. if i wid the boost up to 30lbs and add 100 hp of gas can i have the 400 then + the standard pub talk multiplication faftor of 1.3 , making it 520,lol

Your formula sort of works Wil but I guess you eventually reach the point of diminishing returns. The 5 port head can only flow so much etc.

Also at the other end of the scale I doubt a big bore engine running 4psi will only make 40bhp, it would probably be nearer 80-90bhp.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

yes. I think between 10 and 20 psi it's a rough guide.

I agree with the formula I've not been on the rr but iam running 1275 t3 15psi boost phase 2cam turbo phil head & been up against my mates 55plate fiesta zetec s what are 150bhp std & he has a few mods done we were both the same he couldn't catch me & I couldn't really pull away any more he only passed when I backed off at 110mph so guessing iam running around the 150 bhp area

Mine made 150bhp on 10psi of boost with a gt17, k1100 head, stock cams. But the gt17 also ran out of puff about 18psi which is a lot less than on most engines.*oh well* now running bigger turbo and 25psi + no idea on power, will hopefully find that out at the end of summer.
