Can anyone shed some light on this problem

2000 reg mpi won't start

the fuel pump is not running. If I put wire from the battery (live wire only direct to the fuel pump it will run) car will start

There no is power at the spade connector on the pump

Can someone tell me if the pump should run constantly or should it switch off when the pressure is reached?

When the mini is turn on there's no live at the pump is there any relays or pump pressure switch to check?

I've checked all fuse and they are OK

Is it OK to just run a new live and where is the best place to take it from?

Could do with wiring diagram if someone as one

The wire that goes to the pump
Where does it come from?
I know it goes up through the roof to the dash but then where?

Has it tripped the cut off switch on the bulkhead under the bonnet?
