What are your thoughts about this flywheel design from LynxAE? About half way down:

Basically, the flywheel is reduced in diameter down to only 206mm, with the wok needing to be modified so the starter motor will fit the other way round onto the reduced sized ring gear.

I've not seen anything like this before. Interesting idea, although would it be of any benefit to anyone other than a circuit racer for example? With a FW so light (1.6kg) and small diameter, is it getting into territory where it is actually too light so there is a lack of inertia?

probably good on a car that doesn't see a road, good luck pulling away slowly!

I was acually speaking to someone with a small flywheel recently, bloke said it revved up like a bike.

Bloody expensive!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

You must have to cut the inner wing?..

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Infact, looking at the really really light pre verto's you can get, would there really be that much benefit? most of the weight is around the centre anyway.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
