Hi guys.
Right, got a black Rio 1275 i was going to rebuild, but basically, the turbo project is raping me, and i'd quite like to finish a couple of bike projects, so this has unfortunately got to make way for them.
Ok, so basically, its almost a full car at the moment, but i am quite prepared to break it, but really only into 5 main lots. That would be the shell and associated bits, the front subby complete, the rear subby complete and the engine and full exhaust. In an ideal world, i'd sooner see it go as is and be rebuilt and save another mini, but i appreciate parts are needed for people also. However this is reflected in the price hoping its saved.
The car won't come with the glass, or the front headlights, steering wheel or dash. otherwise its all there.
So the car.

The shell. Its going to need a paint job really, but it could pass with a good days work with a mop and some cutting compounds. The rear end is really solid, the underneath has always been waxoyled and has kept it free of rot. The roof is good, the doors are immaculate. the scuttle has some surface rust that hasnt gone through yet, but will very likely need a bit of a patch. it really is a localised piece though.
The 2 bits that need attention are the fronts (nearer the a panel) of the sills. again, they haven't 'gone' but are probably going to need replacing, but i would be fairly confident they are just a set of outers. The other bit is the front panel by the drivers side indicator. It has rusted through just above the bumper in a section about 6" wide and 2" high. HOWEVER, i have a brand new BL complete front panel that will go with the car, be it the complete car or the shell if its split.
The bonnet is also in good condition with a bit of surface rust on the corners.
The interior...
3 clock, home made dash trimmed in grey alcantara. silver and black mountney steering wheel, leather cooper seats, fronts in great condition (could do with a leather clean and feed) but the backs have some marks where the spare wheels were stood. left in indent, but ive been told some feed, and maybe some ice?? would make that go. Black door cards, alloy door furniture. Has a TOAD 101 alarm, with central locking. The dash area, and boot area has been sound deadened with dynamat for those that like their car audio. The headlining is done for. The sunroof doesn't leak. The grill is tired, but would be great if you wanted it painted as its complete and not dented etc. the drivers side window mechanism doesnt work, simply because of the window bottom rail. This would need replacing.
The engine....
1275 with a genuine 62.000 miles on it. i've got most if not all of the paperwork for it, including the original dealer booklet. HOWEVER... the previous owner unfortunately had a mishap and the big end bearings were shot. I had the engine out, and had the crank reground, the nig ends done and rebuilt the engine with new gaskets/oil etc etc. Unfortunately we were on a serious time limit (rebuilding the engine on the sunday, when i was moving from the midlands to plymouth on the monday) and when we got the crank back, he said one of the rods must be oval as he had to grind the crank round again on that one rod end. when we started it, you could hear it knocking, so we turned it off. Unfortunately, as said, i had no time to then rebuild it again, and it has then sat untouched. So it will require a rebuild with a new rods.
Has servo assisted brakes, and has a maniflow exhaust system, alloy rocker cover, 2 core super cool rad
Subframes....
Both in excellent condition.
So prices....
car as is with the BL front panel £1000
If split, i would be looking for something like....
Shell...... £450 with alarm, doors, carpets, loom, front panel, tank etc etc etc
engine.... £450 with the exhaust and all ancileries and the servo. if the servo is not wanted £400. The servo can then be sold either seperately for £50, or added to the shell for £50.
front subby fully built.... £150
rear subby fully built.... £150
Seats...... £200
Dash and clocks.... £70
Steering wheel and boss.... £30
Guys, as always if you think the prices are out, let me know. I've been having a look round for a couple of weeks, and checking ebay etc, and i think i've got a fair handle on it all, but let me know if you think otherwise :)
