hi all I'm really stuck now,
I bought my old mini turbo back last month as a bit of a wreck, it did still run but would die as soon as it came on boost. So far I have rebuilt the carb, replaced regulator, and pump set the regulator at 4psi and it does raise on positive pressure replaced plugs and checked timing. I'm getting to the point where I want to rip the engine out and fit honda engine unless any of you guys can think of anything I've mist.

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper

Check the lean off pipe for splits.

Check someone hasn't removed the restrictor in the plenum.

Check that the gasket between the plenum and carb has the hole in it to pressurise the float bowl.

Search 't piece trick' on here.

Some starters anyway.

I've also done a compression test and all4 pots came in at 12 Bar, all fuel pipes are new as are boost/vacuum pipes.
if you disconnect the plenum pipe so it runs N/A it runs and drives fine. The balance pipes on the carb are blocked off leaving only the fuel in pipe. gaskets are facing the right way too ie hole for fuel pressure in the right place.
