I just had an interesting e-mail conversation with Accralite Pistons.
I found a listing on their website of A+ forged pistons including some in the 13-18cc range so asked for a price, the reply said that they were considering a production run at the end of the year and the price COULD be in the 75-80 quid ea. range. Sounds interesting to me! esp. with the price of JE forged pistons, perhaps if more of us contacted them showing an interest they may actually go ahead with a run. website is www.accralite.com, check out the "austin" pistons.

lol, "The end of the year"....I hope not. Accralite are contracted to us!! They have been made to our design. We're doing the marketing and distribution. The first batch have already been made and are on the way to us.
Cheers

£415 inc vat.
Unfortunatly we can't do any discount on these. Saying that....If say 5 sets were bought at once we might be able to do somthing.
Keep your eyes out for a press release.

What's the quality like, compared to say, JE?
If it's as good, we might be interested later in the year, after september.

These are Cosworth quality.L58 forging. They look so pretty to good to put into an engine .We have had big discussions on the ring land design also they will be taller for the Atmo boys in 6cc offset dich for the race applications Accralite are also making VW/Audi and K series pistons for us.

Oohh, Totally off-topic, but how much for a set of forged pistons for a VW 9A engine (2.0 16v, from a 1990 passat) - feel free to PM me about it so we dont go off-topic too much on here.

haha, i smell a 2.0 16v turbo in the pipeline *tongue*

unless you want big power i don't think you need the forged pistons, i think the standard 2e (that is the 2l 8v right?) pistons will take a fair bit of abuse.

2E's will only take 6psi, 8psi at a real push.
S2 pistons will take about 20psi...

as far as I know anyway, Lloyd's going with S2's.

i didn't realise that. I just read a thread on vortex a while back that suggested that you could get a fair amount of power for cheap.

i actually thought s2s would take even more than that.

How much power do you really need in a little 950kg mk2 though?

Avonbar- What discussions have you had with acralite re the ring lands then?

Are you saying that you've got a turbo piston design with ring lands compromised by the nat asp requirements (like the forged omega) - or vise versa (not that I care about nat-asp)!

Rats.. 400 odd is too rich for me, exchange rate and all. I was hoping for something in the middle with a decent cc dish, forged or cast Ahh well...
