What is the recommended oil to run in an engine? Its done all of 5 mins running?

Ive been told asda or tesco value oil? Don't like the sound of that to be honest! How long does it take to run an engine in?

Cheers!

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

in short, any basic mineral oil, none synthetic

For me crap oil to get it running drain after a couple of hours running with some more cheap oil. Then CTV after 150-200miles.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

I can see the point of using crap oil to run in but im slightly worried that it will leave nasty deposits throughout the engine? Will using a 'good' oil do any harm?

Im putting cheap oil in to run it for long enough to bed the cam in, then ctv after that.

I run mine in on £6 Asda 20/50 for the first 200 miles. Changed it about 4 times in that space.

Then it's had Rimula for a bit while I was skint, then CTV.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

If you are that concerned about it why not use the millers or the penrite proprietary running in oil?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
