Just rebuilding my new gearbox, however the 2.95 Pinion, is very very close, to the retainer. I've tried 3 different ones and they are all the same. It's a late A+ gearbox.

Is this normal. I'm think of having it machined up to give slightly more Clearence. I have another built gearbox with a 2.95FD, and it's the same.

My 2.76FD had a different retainer.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

You need to machine it mat, give it around 1.5 to 2mm clearance. Around the circumference. Of the pinion

Yes they do, they are not as common as the rest of the pinion sizes

Problem solved, 5mins with the Die grinder and it looks spot on. Good 1mm Clearence now.
