This may seem like a silly question but before I start this job I want to make sure everything is right !

I have blown 2 manifold gaskets recently but they were both standard ones and looking through the search facility I have now gone and bought the MPI gasket with metal rings on the exhasut ports.
I am going to ensure the manifold is straight and flat and also same thickness as the inlet. However looking at the gasket I can see the rings are visable on one side but on the other there is a metal like covering over the whole gasket and the rings are not visable, is there a correct way around to fit it or does it not matter ?? just wanted to make sure I get everything spot on .

Cheers

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

There is a certain person on here who does not use a gasket - just bathroom RTV - and he has around 200 hp so its not just a bodge.

as the boys say above, this was taken off minispares website for the mpi gasket.

"Special reinforced gasket for injection cars has metal inserts on exhaust ports plus a metal back on the manifold side which makes surface easier to clean when replacing. Often used on Turbo cars now when correct gasket is in short supply. "

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve

MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Always a good idea to nip up those manifold nuts after running the car for a while with a new gasket.
