Is there a easy way of removing the drop gear idler bearing from the transfer casing?? i dont want to damage tha casing as i only have one left too use!! i was thiking of weldind a round bar to it and making a crude slide hammer?? |

heat it up,I would us the degreaser tank at work

heat it up in the oven to 180 deg for 30 mins the justtap the back of the casing with a hammer (gently) then it will fall out always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

It MIGHT fall out I'd say.. I normally use a bearing puller tool. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

I tried every thing, even welded a bolt to it, no luck! in the end the die grinder came out! On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

i tried welding my last one to try and shrink the bearing by cooling it quickly!! will see what i can do!! |

another one is to run rings of weld round the inside of bearing with high amperage and hope that when the weld cools it shrinks the bearing slightly.

I had to weld a length of studding into my last one and use a length of tube and few washers and use the the nut to jack the bearing out. |

Easy method: Drill two holes through the back so you can puch it out, then fill the holes with a few blobs of epoxy resin (which are easilly removed ready for the next time you're changing it)!

used the oven trick 1 hour ago there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

I get my local transmission center to pull the bearings out, much easier, leave it in the morning before work and ick it up in the evening on the way home On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
