Hiya guys, just bought the mini spares clubman straight cut gear kit, looks great apart from the inside where the layshaft goes through. It's very rough. Is this normal?

Engine is still in the car so I can't compare with another layshaft gear

Many thanks

When the bearings are in and the lay shaft is fitted the rough area wont be touching anything.

exactly as star says. If they machined that non contact section to a better surface finish it would up the process time and so up the cost.
