I have just put a 1275 A+ metro engine in.
it turns over all is ok on that side.

the problem is i can not get a spark from the coil. i cant seem to get any output at all from the coil.

the coil is new and it is the same with two other coils. so im sure it not the coil.

i have tried wireing a live feed strait from the ignition onto the + coil. nothing.

i have connected all kinds of different wires to the dam coil and nothing happens.

I have connected the wireing up as in the common diagram that goes round showing how the dizzy connectes up. this has not worked either.

i have one white wire from the loom that has a +12V. where im sure that went on the old + on the old coil.
i have two black and white wires connected into one connecter with 8V out put. this im sure went on the - terminal of the coil. also one of the wires is connected to the dizzy. would be pin 3 i beleive.

would it be the distributer causing this or something else. im so completely stumpped by this as i can not figure it out.

please help

Have you earthed the engine?

Without a strap from the block to the chassis you won't get a spark.

another thing worth checking is the points gap.

cheers for the reply.

i got so cheesed off with it i went out and got a whole new distributor and now it sparks

now i need to do the timing on it. and dont know how it is set up dam it. so looks like will have to buy a dam manual afterall.

Yeah just buy a haynes manual and buy or borrow a timing gun, wont take long to set up the timing.
