I have recently built a metro turbo engine and installed into my mini, i managed to get it running fine,

didn't touch it for a week and now it is not starting, i checked the following,

fuel pressure
fuel getting through
mixture is same as before
timing was set up whilst it was running, hasn't changed
there is a spark but it only seems to spark when it is not actually touching a point to earth. (found this very strange)
checked the float level, jet and made sure there are no blocks

any recommendations as i have spent the day trying to rectify to success, Very Frustrating

thanks

Are the spark plugs clean or coked up to hell? Is there a loose HT lead? (had that before, they were all pushed in but the centre one wasnt contacting properly and it wouldnt start even though it looked to be sparking okay)

Engine earth strap?
All hoses for the carb sealed and air-tight?
(both of those got me at first lol)

Reading up on RTS Clutches

Pity your bollocks are in line with the flywheel!

What was the timing set at?
If it was set while it was running and now wont restart I was wondering if theres too much ignition advance while cranking to get it started.

Give the plugs a good wire brush up, bp6es i think are fine, maybe 7's but someone who knows more than me will either confirm this or tell me im talking shit lol. Bp6es is the standard n/a plug and I believe the bpr6es was the standard metro turbo plug.

Eventually got it started after many hours of sole destroying diagnosis.

did many of the suggested, but i believe it turned out to be a faulting ignition module, as after removal and refitting, i got it started, I will order a new one as a replacement. always the last thing you try

Thanks for all the help from everyone hope to see you on the road soon.... just need an MOT cert now
