New question guys,

Do KAD make a version of this?
http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/info_21A1270A.html
I cant find it on the website.

Would you trust mini spares drive flanges?

Hey there

Im looking at getting MiniSports alloy drive flanges, rear hubs and uprights

Will I need to give the front another wheel alignment after fitting the uprights due to the later style ball joints, or does it retain the standard geometry?

I dont like the look of the 3 bolt holes for the steering arm, has anyone had any troubles with this? braking arms etc, do you really need to use the third hole?

Are the Specialist Components rear hubs worth getting over the Minisport ones?

thanks in advance, I already have KAD rear trailing arms and Minifin drums.

Use the search function before buying stuff from me...

Cant see a 3 bolt steering arm being any significantly weaker then the old 2 bolt..
And yes i would get the tracking done again anyway or at least checked

They're designed off the cooper S items by the looks of them (abit chunkier) Im sure they wouldnt be on sale if they were likely to be a dangerous part. I personally wouldn't worry.

The third bolt i'd run, if they designed it to have it i'd run it *smiley*

To keep things ''in the family'' so to speak i'd personally go with the specialist components items also.....

Thanks for the replies.

Im going to order the S/C rear hubs, still trying to find out which is better for the drive flanges, KAD or minisport.

Of course, they wouldnt sell them if not mate. I would imagine the alloy parts would have been on mini spares' own race car season after season.
Im sure they wouldnt sell anything without making sure theyre fit for purpose. Theyre not gona sel something that could kill someone then get them sued....

If your still wary just ring them..

I would tend to trust anything minispares sell
A few years back there.was.the incorect bolts going into there center main strap kit
Now i believe there was no failures of the lower grade than std bolts but mini spares did step up and change the kit even posting out the correct bolts free of charge!!

Also lesser companies couldnt even admit they forgot to include parts into a kit i bought and wanted another 48quid for the bits missing
- i have never and i doubt i will ever buy from them again (although the brakes look nice and work )

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

As regards the drive flanges - I'd personally consider them one of the last parts I'd change after doing other lightening activities. I don't have any long-term info on them - but just feel that bolting a portly standard weight mini up to them and doing typical road duty, especially with a modified engine, might reveal some weaknesses.
But once the car itself is 25% lighter - now the stresses on the flange itself probably aren't as great either, so the risk factor is lower.

That said, I am sure minisport has done plenty of testing on these, and you have to ask if they would be selling them if they weren't somewhat confident of the reliability. Perhaps you can just call, tell them your concerns, and ask for clarification on testing, and any warranty.
