We may need pics but sounds like you have unbolted the backplate assembly from the flywheel which has fallen off behind? but you possibly will find the actual flywheel is still on. The only captive bit is the bolt in the centre of the crank and the slotted washer, once thats out the thing holding the whole assembly on is the taper fit onto the crank whick you will need a decent puller to get off, and they can be a right bastard. Stick mini builder dvd on ebay for best results!

its going on tonight!

sounds like the best bet is to borrow a hydrolic puller than the laser one is bent and one of the bolts shot out

if your not keping the flywheel hit it through the starter hole. i use a 3/8 socket extension bar and big hammer normally just fall off after a couple of hits

Done now needs redoing lol

Mine took ages to get off, tie some rope round it so it doesn't fly off. I had a big pole attached, the engine strapped down, my dad and me on the end of it with a bit of persuasion eith a mallet.
It made a right crack when it came off :)

Best bet I would say is a heavy duty puller but not hydraulic so you can strike the end of the crank, you only have to look at the one Bill has on the dvd-that is really extreme but racers/high rpm/lots vibration are more prone to fretting the flywheel onto the crank almost cold welding it in place. Get the puller on,needs to have an adaptor to fit the centre of the crank too to prevent damage, nice and tight and then strike the centre bolt of the puller towards the engine with a hard mallet/soft hammer-sounds daft but generally works and restrain the flywheel as stated they come off with a right bang and can jump a fair way. A little heat around the centre boss helps too.

This method can bend the crank as has been mentioned in other posts on this subject.

Put tension on the pulley then gently heat the centre of the flywheel, if that doesn't work, whilst hot, hit the centre bolt of the puller, that should hopefully shock it off.

I don't mean to sound patronising, but have you taken out the keyway washer?
When I stripped Shauna's engine, it looked like somebody had one hell of a go with a flywheel puller, and managed to dome the keyway washer to the point where I would never ever think about using it. Just check yours isn't there, simple mistake and sometimes I too forget to take it out and don't realise until I go to put the guide on the end of the puller bolt for the crank.

i have had a flywheel clear a good few feet when it finally popped off, it also took most off the crank taper, being a heavy handed fooker i have never really struggled with these
i find if you put it under alot of tension then stand and shout at it usualy does the trick ( although i think its down to waiting rather than the shouting *happy* )

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
