Just about to purchase an in car boost controller. Seen some on sleebay for like 6-10 quid. Are they all the same? Is it worth me spening double that on a well known branded item? Also, can i mount it next to my seat in the car? Or does it become less effective the further away it is from the turbo?

You can make them fairly cheaply mate, However for the price of them they're easy enough to buy, yes.
