Anyone think a good grade, either 6000 or 7000 aluminium would be ok to make these from?

Ive had 6061 aluminium spacers on the rear trailing arm rod ends for years but theyre straight up and down movement, its a side load on the fronts and there are 4 per side on mine

I seriously doubt it!

leeds/wakefield.

do you mean top hat spacers Dave@, the type than reduces a 1/2" rod end to accept a 10mm bolt

No, just one 1/2" id spacer each side of the rod end. Theyll be 5mm thick and 22mm od tapering down to 15mm

I seriously doubt it!

well you should be using reducing top hat spacers so you can use the lighter 10mm bolt in stead of the 1/2" I suspect you are using,

but either way any anything from the 6000 will be fine, no need for anything more fancy,
