Short answer yes.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

long answer: no, but you will find its much easier, and maybe even faster if you do

The only part that I didn't strip and rebuild was the diff and don't realy want to remove the lump again.I will try with it in if no good it will have to come out.

it can be done, if you have bolts holding it on rather than studs and nuts, rack needs to come off to get the space, engine then needs lifting from passenger side so speedo housing can be removed to access pinion.. We have done it a few times to change ratios for ministox, however in reality it is just quicker to pull the lump....

I changed mine in situ . halfshafts out of diff, undid engine mounts and shoved engine forward and leant top back ,then go the speedo drive off ,then undid the bolts on the diff housing , off it came no probs ,then long extension into box for pinion nut . I thought I was much easier than taking out engine .

To be fair this is not such a common abreviation. Crown Wheel and Pinion. i.e the large gear on the diff is the crown wheel and the small one in the box is the pinion.

I cannot concur. How on earth do you shim the diff with the gearbox present...

I don't care really. Do what you want, bu taking the engine out is FAR better.

I suppose that depends on the type of diff roller bearings you use.
The full cage type don't need pre-loading do they? Just enough shims in there to hold the diff in place.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

you would have to move the engine about as robert says your 90% there for lifting it out, if you have the lifting gear lift it, sort the diff in comfort then drop it back in, no doubt that would be faster aswell and no fucking about under the car

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

If you removed and replaced the same diff and only changed the CEP then no shimming required.

I'm a whip it out man.

That is IF you can get hold of gaskets the same thickness. Given it's the factory gaskets that's there at present, I'd have to say you cannot!
