Afternoon all, my brother and I have just resumed our turbo mini project that has lain dormant for the last ten years. I'm happy to report that the engine is still sweet, and the bodyshell at only slightly worse than when we left it, is in much better shape than we expected.

The car is a 1982 Mini hl and the engine is a 1275 that has a Kent KCRTM cam, ported 35/29 11 stud head with bronze guides, group A head gasket, high capacity oil pump, centre main strap and vernier duplex timing gears. CR if I remember correctly is 9.0:1 I just wish id seen the advice about stamping chamber size on the head, I swear DV dosen't mention it in the yellow bible!

I ended up driving the organ donor for a couple of years as it was so much cheaper to insure, had 1 transmission failure due to a broken wastegate pipe, and melted a couple of pistons due to random interuptions to the fuel supply. After rebuilding the engine , replacing the entire fuel system, and still unable to get to the bottom of the problem, I disconnected the boost solenoid, gave up on the continious welding and ran it at 4psi until the mot ran out, then I cut it up.


At the moment the plan is to get the engine in as is, plus the addition of what could possibly be the biggest intercooler that will fit a Mini without major body mods. Then later, when funds allow, Megasquirt / Throttle bodies.

I used to have 2 possibly 3 fuel pressure regulators, but now the only one I can find has a new life as the FPR for my waste oil fired casting furnace, and I'm going to need that for making the intercooler end tanks and other parts. The other(s) are AWOL, presumed dead, but just incase I do find them, does anyone know if diaphragms are available?

Well it ends in 10 mins but if anyone is after a cheap FPR search ebay under the manufacturers name, trying to be a little bit cryptic, incase the only bidder is one of us *wink*

Hi Benross, thanks for the offer, but I did the head myself many years ago, and at the price of those group a gaskets it's not coming off until it has to.
