tried the other week to get the car set up on the rollers. it was getting to around 3k and cutting out power ( bit like a hitting a rev limiter) the bloke said the actuator i had was too high a spring and i needed a lower one (around 6psi) and a bleed valve so i could control boost as i was getting around 13psi.

so, a t3 actuator later and a bleed valve fitted i have tried to see if it has changed. but nothing. my boost gauge starts at zero, then when the engine starts it goes to -10, but on the rolling road he got a positive reading. the take off for this is the same point used for the canems map sensor.

but now, even with the bleed valve wound in full or wound out 2 turns, it still chops the power around 3k. i can hear it bleeding the air and the dump valve works as it should. the rev limiters on the camens are turned off too so it isn't that.

anyone got any vaigue things i can try or should i just wait a few weeks and take it back to the rolling road. up to the power chop it drives fine too.

set to 4-5psi. it doesnt matter how i drive either, around 3k in any gear, chops power in a hissy fit.

If have to.say fueling too
Maybe change the jet and wind it up?
Also if its a t3 does it hit boost?

its not a t3 turbo. a gt1549 with a t3 actuator. thats one thing he didnt do was profile the needle. had a bdd fitted but he said to swap to a bdl and see how it went. think fitting the bdd back in and taking it for a blast might help??

Hit it with a BFH! ( Sorry all the advice I can give, seems to be solving most of my problems lately haha!)

Take it somewhere else. Anyone who suggests that an actuator will cause the symptoms has no idea and is guessing.

He seems to have used the BBB technique (Bulshit baffles brains). He's said something that he thinks is clever, but it was dumb and you have wasted time and money with (no surprise) no change.

Anyway. You need to be looking at fuelling. there are a few classic mistakes:

1) missing hole in gasket between plenum and carb to allow the float bowl to be pressurised.
2) Missing restricter in plenum, although is will work with out it needs extreme needle filing
3) Do you have a rev limiter on your ignition system?

As you have had it on the rollers, did it lean off when it 'hit the wall'?

ha cheers wil! i went to motoscope in northallerton just up the road from you.

gasket is fine and the restrictor is good too

yes i have a rev limiter but they are disabled. you think bogg brothers would be ok with a turbo? think thats my next nearest to gateshead.

Not sure about Bogg Brothers, but they do know about carbs and a-series, so worth a try. I've not used anyone local.

Dave at Boggs did a great job of setting my car up to around 15 psi but we ran out of rolling road, his rollers are well optomistic but no less helpfull as a tuning aid as any other, plus the fueling he set was really very good, only needed tweaking by me later at the top end when I started pushing up to 25 psi, not sure if he is still doing them though or its his lads now, he was knocking on a bit but a really sound guy.

I had a problem like this a while back my was stalling out when i was hitting 3000 but the reason being is my ignition points were botched and it was miss fireing but really seemed to be fueling issue at first but that seemed to solve my issue, so my solution is check you ignition too.

I doubt he well be using points in a turbo. But check your ignition timing. Your car may start and run with the advance your distributer is set at but your ability to rev is reduced.
