It's better than no intercooler, or not going!

Get one that has similar internal and external area if possible...

My fuelling didn't change a bit when I changed intercooler.

All that happened is I gained 20 BHP (same rollers and boost) amazing

wil, did your air charge temp change? or was it just a reduction in pressure drop across the intercooler?

This was not a back-to-back test. I was using an R5GT (without airflap) cooler and got 120BHP.

The next season we fitted the Izusu Trooper cooler, the engine was otherwise the same, took it to the rollers heypresto 140BHP.

At the RR session he never touched the fuelling, and I hadn't touched it since putting the Izusu one one, so fuelling was the same.

Don't know about charge temp as I haven't measured it.

It's a funny thing.

Interesting, I'm needing a intercooler for mine. I was down the scrappy the other day looking at ic's didn't seem the best selection at the time but I did come across one labelled izusu. Does the one you've got look anything like this Wil?

I may have my facts wrong here, but I think Wil is forgetting that we changed the cam. We went from a phase 2 to a kent 500. If I am correct it makes it even more amazing that the fueling was correct.

However we had run the kent 500 with the R5GT intercooler before and not made 140. The only thing we could put the increase down to was the Izusu intercooler. Obviously the weather on that day can make a difference, but not 20bhp. I guess it is a combination of lots of things.

Maybe the dizzy drive was taking 20bhp???????

You are quite right Ben.

It was making 140 with the dizzy though.

Yes it was much faster with the new intercooler. We never got in the 14s at Avon with the R5 GT (that was with the Phase 2 though) but gor 14.1 with the new intercooler.

As said, when I think about it the intercooler probably wasn't the only thing changed, the cam probably had influance.

and, no, andy that intercooler isn't the one.
